Our Belly's Ate Like Buda's, But the Money was a Pest

So, how to describe Budapest...

It really was a charming little town, despite the dirt that resembled NYC circa 1985 and the whole money issue. I mean, I guess it wasn't really an issue b/c everything truly was cheap. But we didn't have a clue how much a forint was worth or what it even meant, and poor KT found that out the hard way. She was the first to an ATM, and with none of us having ever visited Hungary before, we didn't know what the denominations would total in American dollars. Before we knew it, KT had withdrawn $500, which was a small fortune in a country where most things didn't cost much at all.

One of the best parts of this though: our apartment and the seemingly endless wine bottles we purchased to fill our first fridge of the trip! As Kevy would put it, "I think we were just so excited to finally have a place of our own where we could open up our suitcases and really sprawl out." I think she was right; we finally relaxed a little bit and even got yelled at by a neighbor when we were laughing on our balcony. It was Friday night; sue us.

All in all, the city of Budapest was actually quite cool, and deeply-rooted in many different eras of history. From the underground restaurant we ate in the first night to a ruin that dated back to just after Christ, it was certainly an amazing city that we're glad we tossed on the agenda. We're still not sure how it really ended up there in the 1st place! But after the salamis we purchased at the airport, I wouldn't be suprised if we ended up in the "Paris of the east" again... we could do without the smell, but the taste...well, just ask KT :)

*Sorry we lagged on this one; we got kicked out of our apt on the last day b/c someone else was checking in, so we didn't have a chance to write anything. And then London grabbed our attention upon arrival, and we didn't stop once the entire time were were there. That story will come next...get out the reading glasses. You're going to need them!
